Why the name Artemis?

When Artemis Counseling began, our focus was on adolescent women and their families as they traveled through the Family Court system. As we searched for a name for a therapy practice focused on family goals of balance, healthy relationships and emotional well-being, Artemis seemed to fit the bill. The Greek goddess of wild nature, animals, hunting, children, childbirth and family, Artemis was also the patron and protector of young girls. The daughter of Zeus and the twin sister of Apollo, she also had the lineage of strength and battle in her veins.

We now work closely with parents and families and have grown to incorporate services for adolescent men as well as young women. Our goal at Artemis Counseling Services is to channel the enthusiasm and passion for the protection of young people that Artemis represents and help guide teens and their parents through the turbulent times of adolescence to bring a sense of calm.
